Nigeria Railway Corporation

The Nigerian Railways came into being on October 3, 1912 by the merger of the Lagos Government Railways and the Baro-Kano railway. It however became an autonomous public corporation created by an Act of parliament, the Nigerian Railway Corporation Act (1955), as amended 1990, with the general objectives of “ carriage of passengers and goods in the manner that will offer full value and quality of service, ensure safety of operations and maximum efficiency, meet social responsibility in a manner that will meet the requirements of rail users, trade, commerce and the general public’’.

University of Abuja, Nigeria

The University of Abuja is a tertiary institution in the Nigerian capital, Abuja. It was established in January 1988 as a dual-mode university with the mandate to run conventional and distance learning programmes. Academic work began in the University in 1990 with the matriculation of its pioneer students.

Railway Working Group

The Rail Working Group (RWG) is a not-for-profit rail industry association, based in Switzerland. It was established at the request of UNIDROIT (the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law) to represent the position of the rail industry relating to adoption and implementation of the 2007 Luxembourg Protocol to the Cape Town Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on matters relating to railway rolling stock (the Luxembourg Rail Protocol).

African Railway Industry Association,South Africa

The African Rail Industry Association is the pre-eminent body in South Africa representing the players in the railway industry. We believe that a stronger and united railways industry has the potential to grow the sector and propel railways to play their rightful role as a mode of choice.
